I think you can simplify this a bit by inserting the compressor on the stereo buss and assigning the compressor's side-chain input from the Kick drum (or even, better, an aux out from the kick drum). This effect is all over club records (Daft Punk - Discovery used it, almost to the point of parody :-)). A nice effect to use and abuse! Great tutorial!
